HISTORY

The Bobcat Belles were established in the early months of 2011 by Texas State student Bridgett Munn. The football department approached Bridgett and requested her help in recruiting a group of girls to assist in various football department activities. Embracing the challenge, Bridgett formed the Bobcat Belles in the spring of 2011. Initially, the group consisted of just five girls.

In their first year, the Belles began by giving tours to incoming recruits. The coaches selected five girls to undergo tour guide training, laying the foundation for what would become a core activity of the Belles. Over time, the number of trained tour guides grew to 15, reflecting the increasing demand and the group's expanding role.

The initial dues for joining the Belles were $50. By the fall of 2012, the group saw a significant increase in interest, with around 250 girls applying for membership. As word of the Belles' contributions spread, applications continued to rise, eventually exceeding 400.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a Bobcat Belle is the development of leadership skills. Members have opportunities to shine and blossom as leaders, drawing on experiences with coaches, players, parents, and recruits. Many Belles highlight the peak memory of their first time stepping onto the field, feeling recognized and valued for their contributions.

The number of applicants has also surged, from 20 in the early years to over 400. One of the lasting benefits of being a Bobcat Belle is the formation of lifelong friendships. The shared experiences and collective mission foster a strong sense of community and Bobcat pride.
